本系以專業知識為基礎，結合實務技術導向的教育理念，培育資訊工程及相關資訊跨領域技術人才。此外，並依國家推動資訊軟體人才分類，配合產業技術需求及學生能力屬性，規劃核心課程及內容，以符合實際就業所需。在推動系本位課程規畫中，尤其重視學生學習過程與成果，將理論與實務應用緊密結合於教學內容之中，以提升本系畢業生之就業競爭力。
The department is founded on solid professional knowledge and practice-oriented education, cultivating IT engineers and interdisciplinary talents. Curriculum is aligned with national IT manpower policies and industry needs to enhance graduates’ employability.
本系之教育目標係參考本校創校宗旨、智慧科技學院教育目標、AC2004+規範、本系學生特質加上系諮詢委員、畢業校友、業界人士等意見，再經過系務會議長期反覆的討論修訂而成。旨在培育具人文藝術特質與持續精進技術能力之【資訊技術應用】、【網際網路系統開發】及【嵌入式系統開發】三大類人才。
Our objectives are formulated with reference to university missions, the School of Smart Technology, AC2004+ guidelines, and extensive consultation with stakeholders, focusing on three main talent categories: IT application, internet systems, and embedded systems.
綜觀國內教育體制的發展，技職體系的教育理念與高教體系相較，有著極大的差異性。技職體系著重於實務能力的教育與訓練；而高教體系則著重於學術理論的推演與驗證。本系自創系以來，持續依據技職體系學生特質，修正教育目標、課程組成與教學方法，以期能達成較佳的教學成效。
Compared with traditional higher education, our technical-vocational orientation emphasizes hands-on skills and practical training, and we continually refine our goals and curriculum to fit our students’ profiles.
在課程的訂定上，不好高騖遠，亦不製訂過多含括艱深理論的專業必修課程，主要以觀念的傳授、實務操作、產業應用以及創意激發為主體。希冀自本系畢業之學生，能在激烈競爭的職場上，以務實的專業能力，擁有最佳的競爭力；亦或於繼續進修的學習路程中，發揮實務研究專長，凸顯專業特色。
